Peter Spitzer MD, MBA, MSCS, LFHIMSS

Dr. Spitzer has served as a healthcare, life-sciences and IT executive and consultant for decades. He is CMIO of BioMedInfo and has held the positions of CMIO (TractusMed), CIO (Texas Children’s Hospital), CMIO (Providence Health & Services of California), CTO and General Manager (Aspeon), Chief Science Officer (Ameritech Health Solutions), Senior VP of Client Services (CliniComp), VP of Strategic Systems (Dendrite), Assistant Prof. of Pediatrics (Baylor College of Medicine), and Assistant Prof. of Medical Informatics (Tromsø University Medical Center).

His consulting clients have included AT&T, IBM, Glaxo SmithKline, Baxter, Microsoft, Infomedics, Ameritech, WellPoint, Dendrite/IMS/IQVIA, NetApp, VHA/Vizient, the city of Paris, Norwegian Telecom and numerous early and mid-stage companies.

Dr. Spitzer has a MD cum laude from Harvard Medical School, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, an Executive MBA from UCLA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Bioelectrical Engineering from MIT. He was one of the core founders of the Health Level 7 standards group, and created and chaired the data modeling, medical records, quality assurance and inter-standards harmonization committees of the organization. He is a Life Fellow of the Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS).
