Dr. Matthew Hillis was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology, cum laude, at Harvard University. He received his medical degree at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and then fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Hillis has a diverse cardiovascular practice with a focus on heart rhythm disorders, cardiac device management, and cardiovascular prevention. He has been named a Top Doctor in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology by Philadelphia Magazine on multiple occasions. He has expertise in catheter ablation and the implantation and management of multiple cardiac devices including leadless and transvenous pacemakers, subcutaneous and transvenous defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization devices (CRT), implantable loop recorders, cardiac contractility modulation devices, and central sleep apnea nerve stimulator devices.
