Brian Mericle

Aspire Partner

Brian Mericle has over 35 years of healthcare operations and business development experience covering health systems, hospitals and senior living centers across the country. Brian resides in the Dallas, Texas area.

Brian began his undergraduate studies at The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, where he held various full-time positions at a retirement community (CCRC) and skilled nursing facility. During his time there, he witnessed the exemplary servant-leader qualities of Doug Wuenschel, the Executive Director, and had the privilege of meeting Mark Jerstad, the grandson of Good Sam's founder, who initially recruited him and later became the president and CEO.

After graduating with a Master's degree in Gerontology in Aging Studies from the University of North Texas, Brian completed an internship at The Good Samaritan Society with two exceptional preceptors, Doug Wuenschel and Allan Tramel.

While at The Evangelical Good Samaritan Society, providing care for the aged at all levels on a retirement campus to Age-in-Place was key. Brian's roles as Administrator at Beverly Enterprises provided him with intense experience in the for-profit skilled nursing world, focusing on P&L, operations, census, and PPD. His roles at American Healthtech and subsequent software companies involved building and scaling a software company, directing sales, and leading sales teams in startup software, focusing on post-acute care senior living and selling to hospitals and integrated health networks (IHN).

Brian's diverse background in operations and sales has given him a unique perspective and a deep understanding of clients' needs, issues, processes, buyer pain points, and industry drivers that impact software and other innovative solutions. This understanding is essential in the consultative selling of new-to-the-market post-acute solutions, a skill often overlooked and needed by most sales staff in software and other solutions, especially during new product launches.

Some key contributions Brian has made include pioneering the first Senior Living national facility comparative analytics for GL & Payroll PPD and FTE (AHT), introducing the first LTC EHR (Momentum), directive-care POC using voice technology (AccuNurse), memory care assessment (ALWizward), and implementing the first EHR at the Green House project (Momentum at Methodist Senior Services). He has also been involved with American Healthtech (AHT), NetSmart, FrontStream Payments (FrontStream), BlueStrataEHR (WellSky), MDI Achieve (MatrixCare), and Reliant Rehabilitation with early stage innovative solutions that make a difference impacting care and staff.

As a healthcare sales ambassador and leader, Brian has achieved significant accomplishments in large and complex sales, including reaching annual net new sales of $48 million for EHR software, RCM, and ERP processing services and $340 million for contract services to skilled nursing homes, CCRCs, and senior living communities. He also has experience managing social media and leading a team of over 100 staff in direct care operations, with more than 25 sales and marketing team members.

Analyzing the market segment to develop strategic targets and creating partnerships has been critical to new product launches. Brian has been instrumental in branding, competitive analysis, developing pricing models, devising go-to-market strategies and marketing plans, lead generation/referrals, streamlining internal processes across departments and teams, implementing consultative solution selling processes, and delivering presentations.

Brian is married to a physician (PCP) from Mexico who worked in several hospitals in Dallas's Language Access Services (LAS Spanish) departments after coming to the United States.
